5 on a Friday: Bentley, Cadmatic, FARO, GoEngineer and Graphisoft all acquire
SO much news to catch up on:
FARO acquired SiteScape, a maker of low-res iOS LiDAR scanning software that’s used in indoor AEC and operations and maintenance applications. Read that again: iOS LIDAR. High-fidelity LIDAR is still essential in many applications, but we all carry a device that is/will soon be capable of routine, low-res data capture that is perfectly sufficient for many workflows.FARO says it will integrate SiteScapes capture capability into its Sphere Platform to “[streamline] multiple capture methods into a centralized environment to be accessed in a single environment on a single coordinate system.” No financial details were released.
Bentley’s Cohesive Group subsidiary added Vetasi, an international consultancy specializing in enterprise asset management (EAM) solutions, including IBM Maximo, to its stable. Bentley says Vetasi is the “largest IBM Maximo consultancy team that spans Europe, Africa, and ASEAN countries.” No terms on this one, either.
Cadmatic announced that it acquired Computer Line Associates (CLA) for its SaaS-based material, construction management software, and engineering data management solutions. Cadmatic makes plant design and ship design CAD applications. CLA’s solutions “complement Cadmatic’s CAD applications and information management solutions and will be offered as part of Cadmatic’s integrated product offering.” Cadmatic CEO Jukka Rantala said that “CLA is a perfect strategic fit for us … By integrating CLA’s materials and construction management products with Cadmatic’s design, engineering, and information management solutions, we can offer integrated and advanced functionality and a one-stop-shop to benefit our customers from design to construction and beyond. In addition to the products and customer base, we also gain access to the extensive material and construction management knowledge they have developed over the years.” No terms.
Graphisoft has signed an agreement to acquire Abvent’s Archicad VAR business units in France and French-speaking Switzerland. Huw Roberts, Graphisoft CEO, explains, “This acquisition strengthens our position in these already highly successful French-speaking markets [France and part of Switzerland] by integrating Abvent’s many years of deep local experience with Graphisoft’s global go-to-market expertise and best practices to add even more value for architects in the region.” And in case you’re wondering, Abvent’s Artlantis, BIMoffice, Linkioo, and Render[in] are not part of the transaction.
And I missed this one, from August: GoEngineer acquired Computer Aided Technology, Inc. (CATI), a maker of 3D CAD and 3D printing solutions. GoEngineer is a value-added reseller whose OEMs include SOLIDWORKS, Stratasys, CAMWorks, Creaform, and Oracle’s Agile PLM. CATI offers a similar set of solutions and is based out of Utah, so it adds a Southwest regional component to GoEngineer’s midwest focus. Essentially, Go Engineer is working to build a national CAD and additive manufacturing presence. VAR consolidation continues!
