Siemens to acquire Precision Innovations for AI-powered chip planning
Just into the Inbox: Siemens will acquire Precision Innovations to add AI-powered chip planning capabilities to its EDA portfolio. As far as I can tell (not an EDA person), Precision Innovations’ offering is the open-source OpenROAD framework, which “help[s] semiconductor teams evaluate design feasibility, reduce design iterations and accelerate time to market as system-on-a-chip complexity continues to grow. The acquisition will strengthen Siemens’ EDA portfolio with AI-driven chip planning and design exploration capabilities, complementing Siemens’ existing digital design and verification solutions by enabling faster feasibility analysis and more informed downstream decisions.”
Ankur Gupta, Siemens Digital Industries Software EVP of IC Portfolio, said in the press release “[i]ntegrating Precision Innovations’ AI-powered early design exploration into our EDA portfolio can significantly accelerate time to silicon and improves power, performance and area.”
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, and it’s expected to close soon.
