Quickie: Altair expands electronic system offering by acquiring Concept Engineering

Jun 14, 2022 | Hot Topics

Altair just announced that it has acquired Concept Engineering, maker of schematic generation tools, electronic circuit and wire harness visualization platforms, and electronic design debugging tools. The visualization and debug technology is available as a standalone solution and is also integrated with over 40 OEM design automation (EDA) and CAD tools.

Altair CEO Jim Scapa said of the deal, “Concept Engineering’s advanced, reactive visualization technology is a best-in-class solution to help organizations accelerate their designs that have specific design architecture requirements, as well as rigorous service needs. Integrating this technology into our electronic system design suite will offer our customers comprehensive and fast visual representations of complex system models and debug capabilities for electronic systems.”

Altair plans to integrate Concept Engineering’s software into Altair’s Electronic System Design suite and sold via Altair Units. I’ve asked Altair what will happen to the OEM products and will update when I hear back.

No financial terms were disclosed and it sounds like a done deal.
