Hexagon goes deeper into SaaS, AI, and operations with Innovatia acquisition
Hexagon announced today that it has acquired Innovatia Accelerator Inc., makers of SaaS-based operations solutions for the manufacturing and process industries.
According to Hexagon, “Innovatia Accelerator’s flagship solution, AcceleratorKMS, is an AI-based infield knowledge management platform that expedites the digital transformation of paper-based, high-risk operational procedures and work processes. It enables organisations to easily manage, govern and distribute the up-to-date critical operational content field workers require to keep operations running optimally and smoothly.”
AcceleratorKMS (fka Procedure Accelerator) today includes Procedure Lifecycle Management (PLCM), a Connected Worker Platform (CWP), a Learner Experience Platform (LXP), and a Component Content Management System (CCMS). That’s a lot of acronyms; the point is to capture the systems that many plant operators have purchased from separate vendors into one platform, AcceleratorKMS.
AccelratorKMS boasts a premium customer set that includes BP, Shell, Irving (Innovatia is a Canadian company), Cargill, and many more. These companies use the platform to gather, manage, collate and serve out role-specific information about an asset — so standard operating procedures or maintenance task lists and instructions.
This matters because having people make things up as they go along, no matter how experienced they may be, creates compliance nightmares. Plant operators have to be able to reassure regulators that everything is coordinated, monitored, and systematized. This starts with proposing a procedure then agreeing to it, reaches into operator training and testing, and submitting both procedure and training/testing to regulators. The “P” here is for “Procedure” not “Product” but has many of the same compliance aspects as the PLM we’re familiar with.
Hexagon CEO Ola Rollén said, “We are very excited to bring another innovative solution into our operations and maintenance portfolio and accelerate our vision of facilitating autonomy in industrial plant operation … This acquisition adds operational insights to support the connected worker in eliminating operational incidents caused by missing, out-of-date, or inaccessible information. The combination of AcceleratorKMS with our asset information solutions and Smart Digital Reality backbone will help more customers achieve efficiencies faster, improve operations and increase ROI.”
No financial details were disclosed but Hexagon says the acquisition will have no significant impact on earnings. The acquisition is expected to be completed “over the coming weeks”; once closed, Innovatia Accelerator will operate within Hexagon PPM.
