Altair gets into PLM with Cassini acquisition
Altair just announced that it has acquired Cassini Systems, a cloud-native PLM platform. Cassini does many of the things you’d expect a PLM to do — vault, manage collaboration, etc.– but perhaps a deciding factor was its modern architecture and compliance with European GDPR and Indian PDPB data localization requirements.
According to Cassini Systems, “CassiniPLM Platform is built with multi-tenant and microservices architecture. This means your product data is isolated from others and is safe and secure and the application performs due to distributed and optimized system resources”.
From what I can see on Cassini’s website, its customers appear to be primarily in India at this point. so perhaps one of Altair’s other ambitions with this acquisition is to bring Cassini to a global market.
Altair CEO Jim Scapa said in the announcement, “Upon integration, customers will have a comprehensive view of digital thread activities in the simulation portion of the PLM value chain, creating a differentiated journey and value for design engineers, simulation engineers, production engineers, engineering data scientists, and IT/ HPC administrators.”
No purchase price was given, but it appears to be a done deal.
