Aras secures investment from GI Partners
Given all of the recent PLMish acquisition news, it’s natural to ask: what about Aras? Turns out, it’s going to continue to go it alone — at least for now. Aras just announced that it has reached an agreement on a “substantial growth investment” from GI Partners, a US-based private equity firm. Aras CEO Peter Schroer told attendees at this week’s Aras ACE 2021 user event that the investment will accelerate Aras’ low-code platform innovation, global expansion, and potentially lead to more acquisitions.
From the press release, GI Partners’ Sendil Rajendran said, “The Aras team has developed a truly differentiated low-code platform powerful enough for the most complex scenarios in industry. We see significant opportunity for large companies to fast-track their enterprise SaaS migration with Aras and achieve step-function results,” adds Sendil Rajendran, Director at GI Partners.
It sounds as though at least part of GI Partners’ investment is buying out Silver Lake, a prior investor, though that’s not explicitly stated in the announcement (and I’ve asked Aras to clarify). Silver Lake’s Karen King said, “Aras has established itself with a market-leading solution and has achieved significant growth throughout the duration of our investment at Silver Lake Kraftwerk. It has been exciting to help launch a true innovator like Aras as the company continues to show strong momentum toward category leadership in this next phase of its expansion.”
