OK, I hear you say: “You keep telling me I should add simulation into my design process. I know, I know, I know, but I JUST DON’T HAVE TIME.” You probably do, you just need to approach things a bit differently.
Many companies start simulating too late to do much good. They wait until the product is in detailed design because that’s when they have a CAD model from which a mesh can be created. They say they run simulations to get a better end-product but really, they’re validating an almost-final design. It’s not CAE that lengthens the design process, but any changes that have to be made as a result of CAE – simulation has an undeserved bad rap because people often start using it too late.
