Quickie: Siemens’ Mentor business buys Infolytica

Sep 21, 2017 | Hot Topics

Siemens announced today that it expects to acquire Infolytica Corporation, adding MagNet and Motorsolve low-frequency electromagnetics (EMAG) simulation to its arsenal, in support of electric motor, generator and electromagnetic device design. Siemens says that Infolytica’s solutions “accelerate the development of reliable and optimized solutions for electric and electromagnetic devices such as electric machines  … as well as sensors, induction heating, MRI, and shielding”.

The transaction is expected to close in October 2017, and the Infolytica business and team will join the Mechanical Analysis Division of Mentor, a Siemens business. MagNet and Motorsolve will be added to the Simcenter offering, adding EMAG to the CD-adapco’s CFD, LMS’ motion and test solutions, and the other physics already found in Simcenter.

Roland Feldhinkel, general manager of the Mechanical Analysis Division of Mentor, said, that “Infolytica brings domain expertise and state-of-the-art electromagnetic simulation to Siemens. It is a perfect fit for Siemens’ and Mentor‘s combined strategy of providing full-physics and integrated engineering solutions. We especially look forward to those combined offerings in electromagnetics and thermal engineering for electrification of transportation and autonomous vehicles.”
