Quickie: DS acquires Ortems for production scheduling

Dassault Systèmes just announced that it has acquired Ortems, a provider of on-premise and on the cloud capacity constraint-based production scheduling and dispatching software.

Ortems’ solutions, Agile Manufacturing and PlannerOne, manage manufacturing operations in smart factories. DS says Ortems has more than 16,000 users in 60 countries, including AIA, Courvoisier, Depuy, Europastry, GE Power, Heineken, Knauf, Merck Serono, Sanofi, Thalès and many others. DS reports that Ortems’ had 2015 revenue of about €5 million.

DS says it will take on Ortem’s legacy customers who are currently using Ortems’ Agile Manufacturing and PlannerOne solutions while extending it to complement DELMIA applications including DELMIA Apriso, to “offer a unified experience to all users in digital manufacturing, manufacturing operations management, and supply chain planning and operations, built on a single referential data model”.

The purchase price was not disclosed in the news release, but may turn up later in a financial filing. The deal closed on May 31, 2016.
