Ever have this feeling? You KNOW you forgot something but have no idea what? Well, here’s what I just forgot:

Hexagon yesterday announced that it has acquired iConstruct, makers of construction automation solutions used in commercial, infrastructure, and industrial construction. iConstruct’s products are used to combine data from different disciplines (architects, mechanical/electrical/plumbing (MEP) contractors, and others) into a single 3D model. That’s then used for interference detection (a huge issue), planning, and other cross-disciplinary tasks.

Hexagon CEO Ola Rollén said that “the addition of iConstruct’s offerings and expertise opens up immediate opportunities for our Asset Lifecycle Intelligence and Geosystems divisions. With iConstruct both can deliver greater data management, project planning and communication efficiencies to more customers, segments and disciplines involved in the construction process. In addition, iConstruct’s customer base will benefit from richer content and improved work processes when combining Hexagon’s industry-leading construction automation solutions with iConstruct’s tools.”

As per usual, Hexagon didn’t release any financial details other than to say that iConstruct will have no impact on Hexagon’s financials.
