Ansys acquires Phoenix Integration & its ModelCenter

May 17, 2021 | Hot Topics

Ansys just announced that it has acquired Phoenix Integration, maker of ModelCenter, a tool used by many who apply the principles of model-based engineering (MBE) and model-based systems engineering (MBSE). The point of MBE/MBSE is to automate engineering processes across the various tools engineers use, and create traceability back to the original requirements for the project.

Ansys says ModelCenter MBSE “bridges the gap between engineering analysis and the systems model, ensuring that the product requirement is met and in sync with the engineering analysis conducted throughout the product development process”. Adds Ansys’ Shane Emswiler, “acquiring market leader Phoenix Integration will complement our acquisition of Dynardo in the process integration and design optimization space, and expand our capabilities providing customers with strong MBE and MBSE offerings to further our pervasive engineering strategy. I am excited for Phoenix Integration to join the Ansys team.”

Terms of the deal were not disclosed but the press release did say that the addition of Phoenix Integration “is not expected to have a material impact on Ansys’ consolidated financial statements in 2021”.
