Considering how long codes like Nastran have been in use, it always gives me pause when someone asks me where and how to start with simulation. That’s when I realize that the vast majority of people aren’t simulating anything. Yet. The aerospace and defense industry simulates because it can’t afford a failure, auto companies simulate to avoid failures and reduce warranty exposure. Medical devices, industrial machinery, new materials … all industries that use CAE to improve outcomes and lower risk. Within those industries, big companies have been simulating for a while. But small and mid-sized companies? Not so much.
Over at the PTC Creo blog, I look at four questions to ask as you get started on your simulation journey.
